Secret Note #23 Introduces Players To A Talking Bear

The Friendly Predator Lives In The Secret Woods

Like all othersecret notes inStardew Valley, #23 hints about undiscovered aspects of the game and Easter Eggs with vague words. While other notes help players find giant plushies or even the mayor’s golden project,#23 leads the player to a friendly talking bear with a sweet tooth. The note says, “If yoo can reed dis… come to seecrit wuds. Pleez bring may-pal serrup,”which hints towards a partially literate resident of the Secret Woods. Interestingly, instead of conforming to traditional bear stereotypes, this bear asks for maple syrup instead of honey.

To get the bear what he needs, players have to simply get some maple syrup, which can be collected by placing a tapper on any maple tree for nine days. After they have the maple syrup in hand, players just have to go to the Secret Woods anytime between 6am and 7pm during any seasonto meet up with the bear. There, players will see a bear near the pond who explains that the player can understand him because of forest magic, the same magic that allows them to interact with the Junimos.

After dropping off “the good stuff,” as the bear calls it,players will be given Bear’s Knowledge, which will be marked in the special items and powers tab of the menu as a bear paw.

The Secret Woods Bear Teaches How To Forage Better Berries

The special knowledge that the Secret Woods bear passes along is how to pick the very best berries the valley has to offer, which means thatSalmonberries and Blackberries will now be worth three times as much as before. This doesn’t mean that every berry will be Iridium quality, but that each level of quality is worth more when sold. For example, silver quality blackberries are normally worth 25g, but after meeting with the bear, they’ll sell for 75g.

Also, these special berries won’t make better jams or other artisan goods, so players are better off selling the berries as is, rather than taking the time to place them in a keg, preserves jar, or dehydrator. Ideally, players will also have the Botanist skill, which guarantees that all foraged items are of the highest quality. That would ensure that every blackberry picked up inStardew Valleyis worth 120g and every salmonberry is worth 30g.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a charming indie farming scene that took the world by storm. After inheriting a run-down farm from their grandfather, the player moves to Stardew Valley to start a new life away from the city. Grow crops, raise animals, befriend the villagers, and discover the secrets the valley has to offer.
