OnePokémonfan decided to merge their love for thePokémon Trading Card Gamewith their wildlife photography to make some fake cards that fans wish were real. One of the draws of theTCGfor collectors is the beautiful artwork that’s featured on each card. Each pack even features rarer, alternate art and full illustration cards of the same card, with the only difference being the drawing depicted on it.
Pokémonfan and wildlife photographerOpposite-Mood-7045shared some mockups on Reddit of wildlifeTCGcards using photographs that they took themselves. There are nine cards in total, most of which depict different types of birds, but a beaver and a frog also make it into the mix.The photographer even created two full-art cards, which would likely be players' chase cards if these cards were real.

The Card Designs Would Look Right At Home In A Real Deck
Each custom card designed by Opposite-Mood-7045 includes a photo of a real bird or animal in arealisticPokémoncard design. The cards show a kingfisher, pond frog, cormorant, beaver, grey heron, and a Eurasian coot. The photographs depicted on all the cards are incredible andvery fitting for the card game, with a mix of action shots and more relaxed setting-centric images.
Pokémon TCG Pocket Has Brought Me Back 25 Years, & I Couldn’t Be Happier
Pokémon TCG Pocket is an exciting new way to play, and one that comes close to recreating the experience of collecting Pokémon cards in the 90s.
A Canada goose gosling also appears on a card, with an adorably named Fluffy Peep attack, which evolves into an adult goose with the far more ferocious-sounding attacks of Protective Formation and Powerful Honk. The photographer even includestwo versions of the kingfisher cardthat have the same attacks and stats, but one is afull-art illustration alternative.

Our Take: Wildlife-Themed Pokémon Cards Would Make Excellent Educational Tools
We Want To (Metaphorically) Catch ‘Em All
Games make excellent educational tools, helping kids and adults alike learn new skills. I’ve gotten to witness firsthand how well kids learn from games, as my own kid can tell me way too much about bees, nectar, and pollen thanks toBee Swarm SimulatoronRoblox.Turning learning into afun game by implementing collectible cardswould be a fantastic way to encourage learning and help players of all ages remember information.
As an avid bird watcher myself, I would also love to have physical cards like thePokémon Trading Card Gamecards. Their skills and attacks could even reflect their real-life information like the calls they make, where they can be found, and any distinguishing behavior or characteristics. I, like many of the other fans in the Reddit thread, would happily pay money to own a deck of wildlife cards like the ones made by Opposite-Mood-7045.
