To celebrate the 2024 Pokémon World Championships taking place in Hawaii, a set of Timed Research focusing on team building for the GO Battle League is available to claim and complete inPokémon GO. As part of this limited-time quest, Trainers will be asked to"choose a path"between three team options, so you might be wondering which one is the best choice.
Branching paths like this one have become fairly common inPokémon GO. Some of them are simple, and don’t affect the outcome of their associated Timed Research very much, but others require a bit more thought. The 2024 Pokémon World Championships Team Building Timed Research is an instance where this is the case, as the path you choose will decide which team of three Pokémon you’ll be able to catch.

Pokémon GO Shiny Odds (& Why Raids Are Best) Explained
Shiny odds in Pokémon GO work very differently compared to the rates in the mainline series. There are a few factors that make them so different.
Which Pokémon GO Team Building Path Is Best?
Pancham’s Team Features A Great League Star
There will always be an element of personal preference in choices like this, butthe best path to choose is Pancham’s team, with Dunsparce, Mantine, and Pancham reward encounters. This is primarily because, out of all three teams, Mantine is the most useful Great League competitor in the current meta. It has nice bulk, a good moveset, and the potential to take out some of the biggest threats like Annihilape, Azumarill, Vigoroth, and Gligar.
Thesecond best path to choose would be Inkay’s team, with Jigglypuff, Shellos, and Inkay as reward encounters. Jigglypuff’s evolution Wigglytuff is a top-tier Charm user in the Great League, making it a massive threat to Dark-type, Fighting-type, and Dragon-type opponents.Inkay’s evolution, Malamar, is also a great Pokémon to have in your collection in case the Psychic Cup returns to the GO Battle League in the future.

The officialPokémon GOblog postfor the 2024 Pokémon World Championships event highlights that there are"a slew of impactful changes"coming to the GO Battle League in the game’s next season. It’s unknown what those changes are, but the wording suggests that all of these Pokémon may have more of a place in the meta as a result.
Pancham’s Team Path Explained
Dunsparce, Mantine & Pancham
If you choose Pancham’s team, you’ll be rewarded with Dunsparce, Mantine, and Pancham encounters when you complete all of the Team Building Timed Research tasks.Mantine is the standout of the pack, currently riding high in the Great League meta with impressive bulk and an interesting move pool that includes Flying, Ice, and Water-type attacks. It’s definitely worth trying out in your next Trainer Battle.
Unfortunately, Dunsparce and Pancham don’t really have any place in the GO Battle League at the moment, so they’re not worth adding to your team. Pancham’s evolution, Pangoro, could put in a respectable performance in the Ultra League, but that’s not really the goal of this Team Building Timed Research. It’ll be interesting to see if the upcoming GO Battle League changes affect their usability.

Galarian Weezing’s Team Path Explained
Galarian Weezing, Skorupi & Chespin
If you choose Galarian Weezing’s team, you’ll be rewarded with Galarian Weezing, Skorupi, and Chespin encounters when you complete all of the Team Building Timed Research tasks.Galarian Weezing, Skorupi’s final evolution Drapion, and Chespin’s final evolution Chesnaught can all perform reasonably well in the Great League, so there are no duds here, but there’s also no obvious standout, either.
This could all change with the promised upcoming GO Battle League shake-up, but for now, this trio is a middle-of-the-road team that provides a nice starting point if you’re new to the Great League. Interestingly, Chesnaught can be used as a pretty great Grass-type attacker or Fighting-type attacker, so there’s another reason to choose this team if you’re more interested inRaid Battles.

Inkay’s Team Path Explained
Jigglypuff, Shellos & Inkay
If you choose Inkay’s team, you’ll be rewarded with Jigglypuff, Shellos, and Inkay encounters when you complete all of the Team Building Timed Research tasks.Jigglypuff’s evolution, Wigglytuff, has long been a reliable choice for the Great League, especially with Charm in its moveset. It can slot into most teams nicely, so you don’t have to keep it as part of this reward team.
Shellos' evolution, Gastrodon, can put in an average performance in the Great League, with wins over popular Pokémon like Lanturn, Charjabug, and Azumarill, but it’s nothing to shout about. Inkay’s evolution, Malamar, looks like a terrible option if you take a glance at its Great League ranking onPvPoke, but it does have a lot of potential in themed cups like the Psychic Cup, so it’s worth saving for those.

The Shellos you encounter in team option three will be based on your current location. West Seas Shellos is available for Trainers in the Western Hemisphere, while East Sea Shellos is available for Trainers in the Eastern Hemisphere.
