A brand-new battle pass-like progression system is now active inPokémon GO, giving players ample rewards through completing various in-game tasks. The feature, which is similar to a battle pass or season pass that you would see in something likeFortnite, is launching in select regions (that the developers have not specified) and has both a free version and a paid premium version.
In anofficial blog post, thePokémon GOdevelopers announced that thenew monthly pass system, simply titled the GO Pass, is in a testing phase. The paid version, titled GO Pass Deluxe, can be purchased at any time during the month and will unlock rewards from all previously gained ranks in both versions. Thefirst GO Pass is live from April 1 until May 6, 10 AM local time, and unclaimed rewards expire on May 8.

The GO Pass Is A New Way To Get Goodies
This Will Help Players Who Are Dry on Much-Needed Items
Both versions of the GO Pass have differing rewards. All players will be able to gain XP, candy, stardust, Pokeballs, and various Pokémon encounters. GO Pass Deluxe will include various premium items such as Incense, Incubators, and Lucky Eggs. This premium track will also give players Candy XL and extra encounters.
There are three milestones players can reach in the GO Pass, each denoted by a tier and the following bonuses:

Pokémon GO: Stunning Styles Event Guide
The Stunning Styles event features a host of bonuses for trainers to make the event worthwhile in Pokémon GO, including the debut of Paldean Tauros.
One important thing to note about the GO Pass Deluxe is that the final reward is a unique and rare item called a Lucky Trinket. The Lucky Trinket must be used on a Great Friend in the player’s friends list, and it will give the Lucky status to both the player and the friend the Trinket is used on.

After the Trinket is used, the next time the twoplayers trade Pokémon with each other, both of the Pokémon received will become Lucky Pokémon. Players need to keep in mind that the Lucky Trinket will expire on May 11, regardless of when it was originally claimed.
This Method Of Getting Rewards Seems Fair To Players So Far
The Reception To the Pass Is Generally Positive
Thisnew announcement forPokémon GOhas so far been well-receivedin spaces likeReddit. Reddit userKangouwouremarked,“Honestly, I don’t see anything wrong with that form of monetization. People wanna spend on a battlepass ? Here they can.“Many players also hearkened back to theUnova Tour pass and event. Reddit usertehjozstated, “It looks like there is a F2P version of this, similar to the Unova Tour Pass. The Tour Pass was actually a reasonably neat idea, and I thought the extra bonuses during the F2P version were fine.”
Hopefully, this testing phase of the GO Pass runs smoothly and the developers will make any necessary adjustments as time goes on. It’s easy to worry about monetization in the gamenow that it’s under new ownership, but this new addition doesn’t appear to be worrying players, regardless of your opinion on battle passes. This pass may even bring back a lot of people who haven’t playedPokémon GOin a while, as the rewards included in the pass will definitely help keep players engaged and make progress on their accounts more quickly.
