Throughout January 2025, you can participate in Max Monday events inPokémon GOto challenge several different Gigantamax Pokémon. These Max Battles only occur one day a week for a limited time, making them hard to do unless you know when they appear. With many Max Mondays having a chance to feature a Shiny Pokémon, you’ll want to know how to join these events before they happen.
Max Mondays are similar toRaids inPokémon GO, featuring super-powered Gigantamax Pokémon who are hard to defeat. For a Max Battle, you slowly build up Max Energy to fill your Max Meter, which in turn allows you to Dynamax your Pokémon. The Max Moves your Dynamaxed Pokémon can use are oftentimes crucial to winning a Max Battle, especially against tougher opponents.

Some of these Dynamax Pokémon in each Max Monday have already appeared before, such asDynamax Charmander inPokémon GO. How Do Max Mondays Work?
Explore Areas To Find Dynamax Battles At The Right Time
Unlike the hidden battles against Team Rocket leaders likeGiovanni inPokémon GO, Max Mondays will showcase Dynamax Battles clearly at the right times. All Max Mondays take place starting at 6PM local time and last until 7PM. This single hour doesn’t give you much time to find a Dynamax Pokémon battle, but you can re-match them as many times as you want once you do find them.
Max Battles should be extremely familiar to anyone who has participated in a normal Raid battle inPokémon GO. Dynamax Pokémon show up at Power Spots, which are important locations on your in-game map similar to PokéStops or other landmarks. Youneed at least one Dynamax Pokémon to participate in a Max Monday event, so don’t forget to double-check your collection to ensure you have the right Pokémon on hand.
During a Max Monday battle or any fight against a Dynamax Pokémon, you can have a party of up to four different Trainers who can have up to three Dynamax Pokémon each.
The featured Pokémon of Max Monday may shift throughout the window in which the event takes place. For example, Dynamax Machop could switch to Dynamax Ghastly at different points, making it even harder to anticipate the timeframe when your preferred Pokémon will appear. Watch Power Spots carefully so you don’t miss the one Dynamax Pokémon you want to encounter the most.
Gather your friends to help you during Max Battles if you can, unless you have Dynamax Pokémon powerful enough to defeat featured opponents. Every Max Monday in January 2025 forPokémon GOoffers something new, making it a recurring event you won’t want to miss.
