Quick Links
AlthoughPokémon TCG Pocketjust went live for players a week ago, several events, including the Lapras EX drop event, are already taking place. The Lapras EX drop event allows players to collect five new promo cards, including Lapras EX, which can be added to custom decks for in-game battles.
The event runs from 1 a.m. on 11/5/24 to 12:59 a.m. on 11/18/24, local time. During this time, you must participate in event-exclusive battles where you can unlock Lapras EX and the other promo cards. However, you’re not guaranteed to get them on your first try, so you may have to take advantage of all the time you have before the event ends.

How To Unlock Lapras EX In Pokémon TCG Pocket
Compete In Event Solo Battles
Once the event starts, you can go to the battle tab at the bottom of your screen and, if the event is live, you should see a notification underneath the Solo Battle option that says “Event underway!” and if you open it,there will be a new section added to your solo battles. The new event option is titledLapras ex Drop Event, and if you open it, it should resemble the other Solo Battle sections.
Pokémon TCG Pocket: One Easy Trick to Help You Win More Battles
Players are able to increase their chances of winning competitive battles in Pokémon TCG Pocket with one simple trick using Trainer cards.
If you’ve played through any of the Solo Battles, which is highly recommended fornewPokémon TCG Pocketplayers, then you know that they are broken down into difficulties. Within each difficulty, you battle several different themed decks. Since there is only one deck for this event, the Lapras EX one,you will only see an option for each difficulty of the Lapras deckand nothing more, starting with beginner and ending with expert.

Do Backwards Packs In Pokémon TCG Pocket Have Rarer Cards?
With Pokémon TCG Pocket in full swing, players have begun to create new traditions about finding rare cards, but is there any truth to these?
Furthermore, while you’re free to participate insolo battles inPokémon TCG Pocketas many times as you like, the Lapras EX solo battles cost Event Stamina each time you battle and beat them. This means once you’ve used up all five, you will have to wait 12 hours each for them to recover or use event hourglasses, which you can earn by successfully beating the Lapras deck and completing the challenges for each difficulty.

you may receive a promo pack for a win against any difficulty of the Lapras deck. Therefore, you can unlock all the cards by repeatedly competing with the beginner difficulty deck. However, there are other rewards to earn for each difficulty, so if those interest you, I’d still recommend at least beating those once.
As for unlocking the Lapras EX card, you must win the event solo battles. For each win, you will have a chance to receive a Promo Booster Pack containing one of the five event promo cards. There is no way to guarantee which one you will receive, and you can open duplicates, so you may need to defeat the Lapras deck several times before you collect all the promo cards, including Lapras EX.

How To Beat The Lapras EX Deck
Build A Strong Electric Deck, Ideally With Pikachu EX
As for each difficulty, the decks are more or less the same, except that the beginner version won’t contain any EX cards, and the expert version contains several. Regardless of which version you face,Lapras and Starmie will be your main concerns as they are the stars of this event challenge. Luckily, since the deck is primarily water and a handful of normal-type Pokémon, you should be able to use the same deck against all difficulties.
What Happens When You Complete The Kanto Pokédex In Pokémon TCG Pocket
Pokémon TCG Pocket has a special reward for players who manage to complete the Kanto pokédex, and it is certainly worth the time and effort.
Though you’re free tobuild a customPokémondeckfor this event any way you choose, you should ensure you’re using an electric deck, ideally with Pikachu EX, as shown inPtcgradio’s YouTube video above. This will give you a type advantage, making your life significantly easier, especially on expert difficulty. If building a custom deck for the event sounds like too much work, you’re able to also use rental decks.

Suppose you don’t have the rental decks or Pikachu EX available. In that case, you may technically get away with making an electric deck that doesn’t feature any EX Pokémon since the beginner and intermediate phases do not utilize any EX cards either. However, I wouldn’t recommend going beyond that without any EX.
If you’re going the rental deck route, I’d recommend using the Pikachu EX deck or the Lt. Surge Deck. While there are other electric-type rental decks, such as the Wigglytuff EX deck, the stronger cards of those decks will not offer you a type advantage over water, making them about as good as any other regular card for you. Also, try to remember the specific challenges before battling, so you can complete as many as you can.
