In order to do this,Felicity underwent surgery to alter her appearance, and she settled into the role that she felt she was born for. However, despite her ambitions to climb to the top, once she reaches that summit, Felicity recognizes the ghastly and monstrous things she did to get there, including hurting people like her old friend Amos.

It is in this state that Amos meets Felicity again, and while he intended to report on Felicity’s underhanded actions, he recognized that it was too late. Felicity was in charge. There was nothing more to say or do, he was simply out of a job, and had to swallow the fact that there would be no retribution despite his possessing a recording of Felicity speaking out about her plans. On top of this,Amos still cared about his friend, and the person that she used to be. Yes, she was responsible for breaking his heart multiple times, and through the experiment he lost literal limbs, but he was not up to pushing Felicity further down.

Amos suffered intensely as a test subject. He lost limbs, had many body parts replaced with augmentations, and he almost certainly took years of his life. But, he did benefit from some of the enhanced tech, making him a little smarter, and more aware of the actions and emotions of others. Despite losing so much, Amos gained wisdom and understanding about his position, and the way the world works. Unlike many of his fellow test subjects, hesurvived thanks to his iron will, and it served him well until he was allowed to return home, and regain his body as his own possession.

This is a direct reference to an early moment in the game when the protagonist, known as the Stranger, arrives on the planet. Beyond this, the episode follows events that supposedly happen in the background of the game,including characters who would otherwise go unnoticed. Despite their obscurity, they do interact with familiar companies and places from the game.
For instance, the Auntie Cleo company is a part of the game, and it is known for its unethical testing on human subjects. The company is also responsible for a wide range of useful products players can consume in order to achieve set outcomes. The experiments that Amos underwent tie in with this, as each time he was given a task, he was also given a consumable which would hopefully improve poor conditions.
