As fans will remember, Severide and Stella’s romantic spark was instant when Miranda Rae Mayo joinedtheChicago Firecastin season 4. Their relationship wasn’t the most stable for a while, but Severide and Stella eventually found their groove and got married in season 10. Unfortunately, after the couple’s wedding, Severide’s strange and annoying behavior started affecting their relationship. WhileSeveride and Stella are still together going intoChicago Fireseason 13,it seems as though their issues will only continue.

Severide’s Obsession With OFI Almost Ended His Marriage With Kidd In Chicago Fire Season 10 & 11

A Divorce Seemed To Be In The Cards For Stella & Severide

Severide got the opportunity to be involved with an Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) training campinChicago Fireseason 11, and that was seemingly the beginning of the end. Taylor Kinney’s character left Chicago for the program, and unbeknownst to Stella, extended his leave when he was asked to join an ATF investigation. Severide never informed his wife of his actions, which led to some friction between the two. Thankfully,Severide eventually returned inChicago Fireseason 12after Stella brought him home. However, his obsession with OFI continues, and Severide and Stella’s marriage will suffer as a result.

Severide promised Stella that he would change and prioritize her, which is how they were able to temporarily fix their marriage in season 12. Even though they were on good terms, Severide’s revelation duringtheChicago Fireseason 12 finalemight make the couple take a few steps back.Severide wants to start a family, much to Stella’s surprise. She didn’t have the best reaction to Severide’s proposal, but she might have just been shocked (or she’s not on the same page as her husband). So, having a baby might be an issue going into season 13, along with Severide’s continued OFI obsession.

Severide Still Has OFI As His Priority In Chicago Fire

OFI Will Be A Significant Part Of Severide’s Season 13 Story

While speaking withTVLine, showrunner Andrea Newman teased Severide’sstory inChicago Fireseason 13. Unfortunately, her comments spellbad news for Severide’s relationship with Stella. When asked about why Severide hadn’t received a promotion at Firehouse 51 while other characters have, Newman said:

“He’s got his focus on the thing he is obsessed with, which is arson and OFI, in addition to squad, which he loves. There’s a lot of politics the higher you go up in rank, and Severide has no interest in that. He’s a get-your-hands-dirty kind of guy. So arson is still very much on the forefront of his mind, the possibilities of moving to OFI are at the forefront of his mind, and all of that comes up. He’s dealing with all of that this season.”

Severide attempted to lay low with OFI inChicago Fireseason 12, but his passion for arson investigation will seemingly overpower his other priorities and duties (including his marriage) heading into season 13. As Newman points out in her interview, Severide is obsessed with arson and OFI. Consequently,OFI will be a major part of Taylor Kinney’s character’s storyin the upcoming episodes. Perhaps season 13 will finally be the opportunity for Severide to jump from Firehouse 51 to OFI (and forKinney to leaveChicago Fireafter years of speculation regarding his exit).

Boden’s Chicago Fire Season 13 Replacement Is Bad News For Firehouse 51

Eamonn Walker’s Chief Boden left Chicago Fire ahead of season 13, and his replacement might rub some of the other firefighters the wrong way.

Will Severide Leave Firehouse 51 To Join OFI In Chicago Fire Season 13?

Taylor Kinney Has Seemingly Been On The Edge Of Leaving For A Couple Of Seasons

Based on Andrea Newman’s comments, it’s quite possible that Severide will leave Firehouse 51 and Rescue Squad 3 for OFI inChicago Fireseason 13. Severide is obsessed with OFI, and he’s not going to give up on his passion for arson investigation without a fight. Unfortunately,Severide’s persistence might be his doom(at least, concerning his time on the NBC procedural drama series). If he isn’t willing to prioritize Firehouse 51 and his wife over OFI in the upcoming episodes, it will only be a matter of time before Severide jumps ship, destroying his marriage in the process.

Only time will tell if Severide and Stella survive these latest hurdles, though, or ifChicago Fireseason 13 will be Taylor Kinney’s last.

Fans should be concerned aboutSeveride and Stella’s relationship in season 13. Severide’s love for OFI (which has damaged his marriage in the past), combined with possible disagreements about starting a family, will only end in disaster. Only time will tell if Severide and Stella survive these latest hurdles, though, or ifChicago Fireseason 13 will be Taylor Kinney’s last.
