Warning! This article contains spoilers for Silo season 2’s finale.

Siloseason 2’s ending is packed with many shocking story developments, with one revolving around the Algorithm choosing Camille over Robert. Despite being based onHugh Howey’sSilobooks, theApple TV+ sci-fi showhas not shied away from taking many creative liberties throughout its runtime. It has not only significantly changed many story beats from the original books but has also introduced new characters to the show’s overarching storyline.

For instance, Robert Sims has a different and relatively less significant role in the original books, while his wife does not even exist in the source material. The show, however, treats the two characters differently. Robert Sims has been one of themain characters inSilosince season 1, and Camille, too, rises in the ranks to become one of the leads in season 2.Siloseason 2 also endswith a surprising twist that hints Camille will have an even bigger role in the show’s future installments.

The Algorithm Only Wanted Camille To Stay In Silo 18’s Vault, Not Robert Or Anthony

It Asks Her Husband & Son To Leave

After getting the key to Silo 18’s vault from Bernard, Robert Sims takes his wife, Camille, and son, Anthony, inside it. He hopes to find answers to what Lukas told Bernard, but, to his surprise, the Algorithm asks him and his son to leave. Bernard gave up on his role, and, only when he stopped caring about the silo, he handed over the keys to the vault to Robert Sims. While this officially makes Robert a leading figure in the underground structure, the Algorithm seems to have other plans. From the looks of it, it has its eyes set on Camille and cares little about Robert Sims.

Could The Algorithm Be Choosing Camille As Silo 18’s Next Leader?

It Looks Like It Trusts Camille More Than Robert

Towards theend ofSiloseason 1, Bernard and Lukas understand that the founders never really cared about the sustenance of all the silos. They also realize that by using the Safeguard procedure, the Algorithm can destroy their silo at any given moment. This makes them lose their faith in the overarching system, prompting them to back off from their roles as Silo 18’s leading figures. After following all the rules and resorting to extreme measures to suppress Silo 18’s rebellion, Bernard gives up and even tries to head out to experience a few moments of freedom.

Silo: The Safeguard Procedure Explained

Silo season 2’s ending leaves many questions unanswered but drops enough clues to highlight what the Safeguard procedure is and how it really works.

This leaves Silo 18 with no leading figures. Owing to this,it seems likely that the Algorithm wants Camille to become Silo 18’s next leaderand extinguish the growing rebellion before it is too late to save it. The Algorithm seems to identify that as much as Robert would love to hold a position of power, he is not capable of managing an entire underground city. Camille, in contrast, has put her abilities and intelligence on full display throughoutSiloseason 2.

Camille Has Proven That She’s A Capable Leader Throughout Silo Season 2

Camille Has Been Far More Strategic & Composed Than Robert

Unlike Sims, who has only been good at following Bernard’s orders, Camille has often been manipulative and perceptive throughoutSiloseason 2. There are moments in the season where she even manages to outsmart Bernard and still avoids facing the consequences of her actions by pretending to be innocent. Her ability to secretly pull many strings from behind the scenes and control Robert proves she can lead and control the silo better than Robert.

…Camille will effectively use the resources in the vault to find a way to restore order in Silo 18 before the Algorithm is forced to implement the Safeguard.

The Algorithm seems to have been watching her throughoutSiloseason 2, noticing that she is capable of taking over if Bernard chooses to step back. Unlike Robert, who, as Bernard points out, is not curious enough to become a good shadow, Camille will effectively use the resources in the vault to find a way to restore order in Silo 18 before the Algorithm is forced to implement the Safeguard. SinceJuliette returns inSiloseason 2’s ending, Caille will face some stiff competition from her in season 3. However, Camille might still find creative ways to ensure her voice is heard by the people.
