Snoopy has had a number of iconic alter egos throughoutPeanuts’ history, fromSnoopy’s Tennis Proand World Famous Attorney, toSnoopy’s World War I Flying Aceand thePeanutsfan-favorite Joe Cool. This running gag of Snoopy taking on alternate personas confirms how versatile a character he is, and why he’s remained perhaps the most iconic member of the Peanuts gang more than half a century after he was introduced.
While the aforementioned alter egos are probably the most well-known, they’re far from the only alternate versions of SnoopyPeanutsfans have gotten over the years. In fact, one of Snoopy’s alter egos has just turned 50 years old, along with an entire month’s worth ofPeanutscomics that were published in November 1974. And while Snoopy’s alter ego definitely steals the show in this particular crop of comics, the ones featuring him are far from the only ones that are utterly hilarious. Out of them all, these are the 10 funniestPeanutscomics that just turned 50!

10Snoopy Debuts His Alter Ego: The World-Famous Crabby Skating Pro
Peanuts- August 01, 2025
When Peppermint Patty decides to enter an ice skating competition, she immediately gets on the phone with Charlie Brown to ask him to tell the skating pro he knows that she needs lessons. Charlie Brown is confused, telling Patty that he doesn’t know any skating pros. Peppermint Patty thinks he’s messing with her, as “the best one in the business” literally lives with Charlie Brown. That skating pro is Snoopy, who - in this case - goes by another name: The World-Famous Crabby Skating Pro.
It’s unclear exactly how Peppermint Patty knew about Snoopy’s skating pro alter ego (or why she doesn’t know that he’s really just Snoopy in a costume), it is clear that Snoopy has certainly made a name for himself under this moniker.

9Snoopy’s World-Famous Crabby Skating Pro Lives Up to His Name
Peanuts- August 14, 2025
While Snoopy is just pretending to be the World-Famous Skating Pro, he actually does a solid job when it comes to training Peppermint Patty for her upcoming competition - and Patty herself says so. As Peppermint Patty is getting ready for the competition, she tells her best friend Marcie that she should jump on the ice too and start skating. Marcie says she has bad ankles, which have kept her from skating, so she doesn’t know how. So, Peppermint Patty refers Marcie to the World-Famous Skating Pro, saying, “He’s crabby, but he’s a good teacher!”.
Somehow, Snoopy has not only convinced Peppermint Patty that he’s a completely different person (as shown in the previous comic strip), but also that he’s actually a talented skating instructor.

8Peppermint Patty Starts to Think Snoopy’s World-Famous Crabby Skating Pro Might Have Been a Scam
Peanuts- June 21, 2025
At the end of Peppermint Patty’s ice skating lesson with the World-Famous Crabby Skating Pro, she gives him a demonstration of everything she’s been working on, hoping to get some constructive feedback. However, when Peppermint Patty asks the ‘pro’ what he thinks of her skating, Snoopy responds with nothing more than a single sound, “BLEAH!!”, before walking away, leaving Peppermint Patty alone on the ice. When the skating pro was gone, Patty asked herself, “That was a ten-dollar lesson?”.
It seemed Peppermint Patty was slowly beginning to realize that this ‘skating pro’ wasn’t a skating pro at all, and that she had just wasted ten dollars. While it might be a little unfair to call Snoopy a ‘scam artist’, he certainly scammed Peppermint Patty out of ten dollars, and he used his skating pro alter ego to do it.

7Snoopy Actually Isn’t as Good an Ice Skater as His Alter Ego Implies
Peanuts- July 26, 2025
In thisPeanutscomic strip, Snoopy is back to being just regular-old Snoopy, and he’s playing a one-on-one hockey game with his best friend Woodstock. As Snoopy has control of the puck, Woodstock body-checks him, stealing the puck and sending Snoopy flying off the ice. While Snoopy initially claims that this was an illegal move on Woodstock’s part, he later admits that it was actually a good play (though he’d never say that to his friend).
One would think that Snoopy would be able to use his superior ice skating skills to outmaneuver Woodstock during their hockey game, since one of his alter egos is the World-Famous Crabby Skating Pro. However, that’s clearly not the case, proving that Snoopy actually isn’t as good an ice skater as his alter ego implies - and Peppermint Patty definitely wasted her money.

6Snoopy Should Invest Some Time in a ‘Writer Alter Ego’
Peanuts- July 21, 2025
Snoopy is sitting on top of his doghouse with his typewriting, hoping for creative inspiration. The first two panels alone make it pretty obvious that he’s suffering from writer’s block, and that’s all but confirmed in the next two panels, as the only word Snoopy can come up with is “The” before justifying his inability to write by saying, “A good writer will sometimes search hours for just the right word!”.
Snoopy is claiming that the fact that he’s only written a single word is deliberate, but that justification isn’t fooling anyone. Since Snoopy likes coming up with alter egos (and even using them to make a quick buck), it seems he should create a separate ‘writer’ alter ego, and spend some time as him, because he’s not making any progress.

5Woodstock is More Resourceful than Snoopy Gives Him Credit For
Peanuts- June 16, 2025
ThisPeanutscomic opens with Snoopy asleep on top of his doghouse until he gets woken up by the snow that’s completely covered him overnight. Snoopy awakens in a panic, not because he was just covered head-to-toe in a sheet of snow, but because he’s worried about Woodstock. However, after quickly running over to Woodstock’s nest, Snoopy finds that the little bird was more than prepared for the cold weather.
It’s incredibly sweet to see Snoopy so worried about his best friend, though this comic proves the pup shouldn’t have been. Woodstock literally built an igloo with a fully-functional fireplace inside, all while Snoopy just allowed himself to get buried by the surprise snow. Indeed, Woodstock is far more resourceful than Snoopy gives him credit for.

4Snoopy Hilariously Lacks Certain Canine Instincts
Peanuts- August 08, 2025
When Snoopy wakes up at 2 am with a painful stomach ache, he immediately wakes up Charlie Brown even though he has convinced himself that no one cares about his pain. Charlie Brown quickly proves Snoopy wrong, however, by not only letting the pup inside the house, but also calling the vet to ensure Snoopy gets the care he needs. The vet tells Charlie Brown that Snoopy just needs to eat some grass and his stomach will be good as new, and Snoopy begrudgingly does what the doctor orders.
While this comic is incredibly sweet, it’s also utterly hilarious, and that’s because of one detail: Snoopy should have known to eat grass to make his stomach feel better. The vet tells Charlie Brown that dogs have instincts that tell them to eat grass when their stomachs hurt - instincts that Snoopy clearly lacks.

3Peppermint Patty Brags About Herself to the Wrong Barber
Peanuts- June 20, 2025
Peppermint Patty goes to get a haircut before her skating competition, and her barber happens to be Charlie Brown’s dad. Upon sitting down for her haircut, Peppermint Patty quickly starts bragging about her baseball skills as they relate to Charlie Brown. Peppermint Patty asks Charlie Brown’s dad, “Did you know I can strike out your son on three straight pitches?”, and it seems Charlie Brown’s dad didn’t like that one bit.
While this comic strip ends before readers can see the result of Peppermint Patty’s haircut, they get a full view of it in the next one, and it’s shockingly bad. It’s hard to imagine Charlie Brown’s dad would be a successful barber if he was bad at his job, meaning the only explanation is that he didn’t appreciate how Peppermint Patty was talking about his son, and he let the pettiness flow through him.

2Peppermint Patty is Stuck with a Hilariously Unfortunate Haircut
Peanuts- July 17, 2025
After her botched haircut, Peppermint Patty tracks down Charlie Brown and verbally attacks him. Peppermint Patty screams at Charlie Brown, “Look what your dad did to my hair” before scolding Chuck for not letting his dad know that Patty was a girl.
Charlie Brown’s dad gave Peppermint Patty a boy’s haircut, allegedly because he thought she was a little boy. However, that seems more like an excuse to avoid getting into trouble for messing up a child’s hair on purpose (he had to have known her name is ‘Patty’, after all). Indeed, it seems far more likely that Charlie Brown’s dad messed up Peppermint Patty’s hair because of how she was bragging at Charlie Brown’s expense in the previous comic, and he just used the mistaken identity thing as an excuse.

1Lucy is Too Depressing Even for Charlie Brown
Peanuts- June 22, 2025
Charlie Brown and Lucy are standing together on the series' famous brick wall, and Lucy starts contemplating life. She asks Charlie Brown if he realizes how many moments in one’s life are wasted just by the unrelenting passing of time. Lucy uses the current moment they’re sharing as an example, prompting a moment of silence before screaming about how that moment was just wasted. Lucy’s clearly having a bit of an existential crisis, and Charlie Brown has no time for it.
Charlie Brown looks at Lucy after she finishes making her point and says, “You’re a lot of fun to be around!” in a sarcastic tone. Clearly, Lucy is too depressing even for the famously hapless Charlie Brown, and that’s utterly hilarious to see. That’s why this is one of the 10 funniestPeanutscomics that just turned 50!
