Squid Game’s Front Man actor, Lee Byung-hun, confirms an important detail during the six-legged race. The newgame inSquid Gameseason 2requires teams of five to have their legs tied together while each individual has to complete a mini-competition. Each team only has five minutes to complete the entire challenge, with the losing team being gunned down by the guards. Under the guise of Player 001,the Front Man is on the same team as Seong Gi-hun(Lee Jung-jae) and is responsible for the spinning top portion of the race.

Lee was concerned about making this look convincing since he is right-handed, and the switch-up is meant to make it more challenging for the Front Man to complete the spinning top competition in a timely manner. If the Front Man continued to sabotage his team for much longer, they would not have been able to finish, and all except for him would have been gunned down. With the six-legged race only being the second competition, and the Front Man not playing in Red Light, Green Light, this is only the first game that he is participating in. He wants to push Gi-hun to his breaking point and to prove him wrong about humanity and the necessity of the games. However,the Front Man would have cut things too short if he let Gi-hun die after only one game together.
The Front Man wants more time to play the games and to pull Gi-hun’s strings. Since Gi-hun and his teammates are fearing for their lives, they aretoo preoccupied to notice that the Front Man suddenly switches hands. Their fear that transforms into elation supersedes noticing this kind of detail and helps keep one ofSquid Gameseason 2’s biggest plot twistsalive.
