Summary

It’s no secret thatStarfield’splanets can often feel like barren wastelands, which is why explorers should check out this mod to spice up the landscape. When roaming around a newly-discovered planet, there’s a decent chance that players will stumble upon a point of interest, which is usually a structure or location that stands out from the rest of the terrain and possibly containssome kind of unique encounter. There’s not a great deal of variety though, meaning users will quickly come to see everything the galaxy has to offer despite its sprawling size.

Over on Nexus Mods, creatorBattenburgawants to spice upStarfield’s planets with their excellent “Batten’s Shipwrecks” mod, an add-on that incorporates 20 crashed ships as points of interest on various planets. These fields of debris are gigantic and while they can’t be spotted from orbit, players can explore around them, occasionally encountering enemy patrols and even boss chests filled with loot. There’s only a 0.5% chance of encountering one of the destroyed vessels, making the actual discovery that much more special when it’s eventually unearthed during an arduous trek across a desert.

One Massive Starfield Missing Feature Should Be Revamped For The Shattered Space DLC

Out of all of the cool features in Starfield, there’s one rare end-game encounter that is one of the coolest and simultaneously severely lacking.

Starfield Needs More Interesting Points Of Interest

Less Repetition Would Be Nice

While there are undoubtedly plenty of intriguing points of interest inStarfield, many players believe the RPG relies too heavily on radiant discoveries that have little in the way of curated content. Some stand-out examples of excellent POIs include locations like De Falco’s Mansion, The Colander orbiting Schrodinger III, and the Dauntless Crash Site on Cassiopeia I. Each of these presents a micro-story while also providing players with a break from the standard discoveries that can be found ad nauseam across the solar system.

Discovering an abandoned cryo lab or a mining outpost overrun by Crimson Fleet pirates can be fun, but these points of interest are often repeated with few changes. It’s possible to run throughthe same evacuated settler facilityon multiple planets, leading to stagnation and crushing one’s will to explore. Many have turned to mods to reinvigorate their sense of discovery, and Batten’s Shipwrecks may be one of the best options out there when it comes to rekindling that kind of passion.

As for Bethesda, there’s a good chance the studio will add more unique points of interest inStarfield’s upcomingShattered SpaceDLC.The expansion, which shines the spotlight on House Va’ruun, could introduce more places of worship and mysterious templesdedicated to the sinister deity known as The Great Serpent.Whether this is part of the scope forShattered Spaceremains unknown, but it’s not hard to see it coming to pass.
