Suitsseason 5, episode 10, “Faith” has a 9.7/10 score on IMDb, and it told us that the show was going to struggle to continue for more seasons. Mostseasons ofSuitsfollowed a similar format in which there would be one or two main cases combined with smaller, less important challenges to be faced every week.In season 5, the main storyline was the fate of Mike Ross, whose fraud was finally exposed. “Faith” wasn’t the first time Mike was arrested, but it was when his ultimate lie was revealed to the world.
The first person atSuits' Pearson law firmoutside of “team Harvey” to find out about Mike was Jessica, after which other characters would continue to discover that Harvey’s protegee was not a real lawyer. However, Mike would always find a way to keep himself out of trouble, even when Louis discovered the truth. This changed midway through season 5 when afteran anonymous tip exposed that Mike Ross had never gone to Harvard.

Suits Season 5, Episode 10 Was The Beginning Of The End For Suits
There Weren’t Many Stories Left To Tell After Mike Was Exposed
At the end ofSuitsseason 5, episode 10, right as Mike Ross was about to leave his lawyer days behind him to start a new life with Rachel, he was arrested and exposed. A scene five seasons in the making, Mike’s arrest was the culmination ofSuits’ longest-running storyline and felt like a point of no return for the show. Even though plenty of characters knew Mike’s secret by that point, Mike being exposed as a fraud was theend ofSuitsas we knew it and changed the show forever.
The fact thatSuitswaited a few seasons to have Mike finally be exposedwas not surprising. Once Mike was arrested, the entire dynamic of the show was going to change. Mike and Harvey, regardless of their strong personalities, usually had to play on the defense because of how big of a liability Mike Ross was. For example, Mike could never get full credit for his biggest cases. Even when the dynamic duo won a case, there was always a sense that something could go wrong at any time because of Mike’s secret.

Mike Ross Being Exposed And Arrested Should Have Been Suits’ Final Arc
Suits Could Have Ended On A Very High Note
I cannot think of a better final arc forSuitsthan the trial of Mike Ross and its aftermath. For a show whose entire premise was someone who had never gone to college making his way into the corporate law world,Mike’s arrest and what followed would have been the perfect conclusion forSuits.Once Mike was exposed, the stakes were higher than ever, and it felt like everything the show had set up for five years had finally been paid off. It’s no coincidence that “Faith” is one of the best episodes of the show.
With a few changes, season 5 could’ve been a great ending point forSuits.

Seeing Harvey and Mike coming up with a defense as the trial approached was arguablySuits’ best episode arc. Most of the time,Suits’ main characters were dealing with clients with whom audiences had no reason to care. Mike’s trial, however, was as personal as it could get.Anyone watchingSuitsfor the first time on streaming will probably binge-watch the latter half of season 5given how intense and well-paced the buildup to Mike Ross’ trial was. With a few changes, season 5 could’ve been a great ending point forSuits.
Suits Lost Its Way After Mike Ross Got Out Of Jail And Passed The Bar
Mike Returning To The Firm Lowered The Stakes For The Show
Suitsseason 8may have been the first one without Mike and Rachel, but the show was already struggling to recapture the magic of the earlier seasons long before that.Suits’ seasons 6 and 7 felt like afterthoughts and did not have the same sense of stakes as previous seasons. Given how easilyMike Ross got out of jail and passed the bar, it became difficult to take any threat againstSuits’ protagonists seriously. Mike was back at Pearson Specter Litt as a lawyer less than a year after his arrest.
10 Best Suits Scenes That Defined The Show
From Harvey interviewing Mike to Louis blackmailing his way into name partner, Suits has a lot of iconic scenes that are not easy to forget.
I would have liked Mike’s time at prison to have meant more for the story, even if the show had to include a flash-forward. Once Mike was back at the office, it seemed likeSuits’ most intense arc was now but a footnote in the character’s history. For how good the latter half ofSuitsseason 5 was, it should have had a bigger impact on the show. That said, following Harvey and Mike for two more seasons was not a bad thing, and the show struggled even more once Mike left.
