Ted Lassoseason 4 gets a filming update from a top WB executive, although no official renewal has been announced. After over a year of silence, it was announced in August that Apple TV+ and Warner Bros. TV, the studio behind the Emmy-winning sports comedy,were taking the first steps to renewTed Lassoseason 4.The first of those steps was reportedly for WB TV to pick up the options of actors in the UK acting union, namely Hannah Waddingham, Brett Goldstein, and Roy Kent. They respectively play Rebecca Welton, Roy Kent, and Leslie Higgins.

Deadlinereports that noTed Lassoactors have yet been locked in to return. However, Channing Dungey, Chairman and CEO of the Warner Bros. Television Group did mention thatWB TV and other producers are looking at potential filming dates. Her comments came as she attended Warner Bros Television Group’s Fall TV Season Celebration, and, in the brief quote below, Dungey strikes an optimistic tone about the return of the Apple TV+ hit:

However, he may be back as a guest star. The update, in any case, proves that there has been movement in reaching out totheTed Lassocastand seeing who is available.

The initial report from August revealed that, after reaching out to the actors with SAG-AFTRA contracts,the next goal would be to open up a writers' room and potentially begin filming in 2025. But in recent interviews, Waddingham and Goldstein have downplayed the report about the show’s future and stressed that they don’t have any major news to share.

It’s A Bit Puzzling

The comedyis one of the biggest television shows and is easily the biggest success story that Apple TV+ has. This makes it a little perplexing that the steamer did not lock down at least some of the actors for potential spinoffs. Although the main series likely couldn’t continue without the titularTed Lasso, there should have been more clarity about the path forward not long after season 3 wrapped. It’s been more than a year now, but developments are finally progressing.
