Disney Lost The Next Big Fantasy Franchise, And I Can’t Believe It’s Repeating The Same Mistake 3 Years Later

Disney has now lost the rights to two major fantasy book franchises, and it’s unbelievable that the studio is so willing to let these adaptations die.

The A Court Of Shaded Truths TikTok Video Is Likely Fake

Videos Featuring The Supposed ACOTAR 6 Are Going Viral

In October of 2024, videos began to make the Tik Tok rounds that featured the supposedsixth book in theACOTARseries. The book was titled asA Court of Shaded Truths, and the use of the book in the videos, including a prominently shared one frombuncybookclub, featured the book next to the others in the series.

WhileA Court of Shaded Truthsdoes seem like a good title for a book in the series since it follows the members of the royal court in the world of the Fae, it’s unlikely to be the title of the next book in the series.A title, after all, has yet to be announced. There have not even been hints about the title given to fans.

The videos do a good job at creating a cover for the book, using a different color (purple) than the previous books have, and keeping with a design that is both ornate in its flowered illustrations of a harp, but also simplistic in its use of that single color of a sketch-like illustration. It certainly had plenty of fans, if not fooled, then hyped for the next book in the series.

The videos, however, are likely fake. For one thing, not even advanced reader copies (known as ARCs among reviewers and those in the publishing industry) have been announced for the sixth book in the series, let alone a title. In fact, outside of the book being on the way, little has come from the camp of Sarah J. Maas for fans to have any details about the book that could beA Court of Shaded Truths.

I’ll Be So Disappointed If The Next Court Of Thorns & Roses Book Confirms This Tamlin Mate Theory

This A Court of Thorns and Roses mate theory suggests that Tamlin and Elain belong together, but it doesn’t hold up for many reasons.

A Court of Thorns and Roses (2015)

The sixth book in theA Court of Thorns and Rosesseries was announced in 2024when Sarah J. Maas appeared onTodaypromoting her latest book release. That release was the third in herCrescent Cityseries. She has been writing theCrescent Citynovels in between those of herACOTARseries.

Not only was that sixth book announced, however, buther publisher also confirmedthat she had renewed her deal with them to publish four more books - on top of her existing three books left to fulfill. That meansthere are ultimately seven books on the way from Maas, not likely all from theACOTARseries, though that is certainly the one most fans are clamoring for more from first. Maas is equally excited about the nextACOTARbook.

She toldToday:

I’m very, very excited about that one. I know much more about what’s happening in this one. And then the next book in that series, I have the ideas and general, vague thoughts. But the nitty gritty of writing and the emotional journeys with the characters — I usually love to go on those journeys with them.

Since 2012, Maas has roughly released a book a year, but that’s largely because she started working on her first series of novels many years before they were published. Now that she is actively writing while the two series she is writing are also currently being published, there is a bit longer of a delay between books. That meansfans will likely be able to expect an official announcement from Maas in 2025 or 2026 before the book is released.

Maas’Throne of Glassserieswas previously slated for an on-screen adaptation as well.

There has also been a lot of speculation about just who the series will follow. While the first books inACOTARfollow Feyre, the most recent follows one of her sisters, Nesta, which has led to speculation that another family member could be featured as the point-of-view character for the sixth book.Elain is Feyre’s other older sister, and breadcrumbs have been dropped about her character and her relationship with Azriel.Fans have been waiting to see their dynamic explored further and the sixth book would be a good place to do it.

Because Maas is known for changing her point-of-view character though,ACOTAR 6could really be about any of the supporting cast of characters in the rich fantasy world Maas has created. We will only know for sure once an official summary is released forA Court of Thorns and Roses 6.
