WARNING! Spoilers ahead for Transformers #11Optimus Prime may have Megatron’s cannon arm in theEnergon Universe, but the Autobot heroes ofTransformersaren’t done using their enemies’ weapons in their eternal fight against the Decepticons. Now, the Decepticons have provided another weapon to the Autobot arsenal, one that proves to be quite useful in their latest mission against the sadistic Shockwave.
Coming from the creative team of Daniel Warren Johnson, Jorge Corona, Mike Spicer & Rus Wooton,Transformers#11 finds the Autobots rallying after their latest defeat to rescue the captive Jazz and Cliffjumper. To accomplish their mission,Optimus Prime and company use the zombified Skywarp to teleport themselves behind enemy lines.
Skywarp was previously “cannibalized” by his fellow DecepticonsStarscream and Shockwave, after which his remains were used to rebuild Teletraan I on the Ark spaceship. After the Autobots retook the Ark from the Decepticons,they also regained control of Teletraan I, and are now able to make use of Skywarp’s teleportation abilities.
Skywarp’s Teleportation Is the Latest Decepticon “Weapon” Used by the Autobots
Skywarp is one of the few Transformers with the ability to teleport himself in an instant, although he rarely used it in a way that made him dangerous in the classic G1 continuity. The Energon Universe version of the character used his abilities to good effect whenhe went toe-to-toe against none other than Optimus Prime, where Skywarp was briefly able to hold his own.Teleportation is a useful ability, and one that the Autobots manage to exploit for themselves as they teleport into the Decepticon starship Nemesis and successfully rescue Jazz and Cliffjumper fromthe clutches of Shockwave.
Using Skywarp’s teleporation abilities continues the trend of the Autobots finding ways to use the Decepticons’ weapons against their enemies.Optimus currently has Megatron’s cannon arm after his own was damaged in battle, as the Autobot leader was able to make use of Megatron’s arm after slicing it off in battle when the Cybertronians crash-landed on Earth millennia ago. UsingMegatron’s arm has made Optimus an even more deadly combatanton the battlefield, so the inclusion of Skywarp’s teleportation abilities to the Autobot arsenal should be a valuable addition.
The War Between Autobots and Decepticons is Ramping Up
With the next issue concluding the current story arc,Transformerslooks to be ending its second year in epic fashion. The stakes couldn’t be higher in the current Autobot and Decepticon conflict, asShockwave has brought Cybertron to Earth via a space-bridge. Whether Optimus Prime and the Autobots manage to use any more Decepticon weapons in theEnergon Universeremains to be seen, so fans will have to keep readingTransformersto find out what happens next.
