The First Descendanthas just entered its first season, bringing new dungeons to the table in line with its Invasion quests. Naturally, these bring new enemies to the game alongside excellent ways to grind and unlock characters moving forward. However, you’ll first need to complete the new questline to unlock the season’s Invasion dungeons.

Besides delivering new content, Season One: Invasion offers a simpler way to unlock Hailey, a ranged DPS shooter and one ofThe First Descendant’snewest characters. Fans of the game had been eager to play as the fresh face long before Invasion’s arrival, and while you’re able to currentlyunlock Hailey with Caliber, it remains a pretty high price to pay. Luckily, the new season’s Invasion dungeons also offer up thecomponentsrequired to play as the Chill Descendant, a major incentive to complete the seasonal questline.

The First Descendant is undergoing important changes with the release of and throughout Season 1, and a lot is being done to reduce the grind.

How To Complete The Mysterious Phenomena Quest

Subquests, The IRD, And Invasion Dungeons

When you meet with Nell, you’ll learn of an illness that’s affected all Descendants in the wake of Ironheart’s destruction, requiring you to fill their shoes. This effectively divides the quest at hand into two subquests:“Block Kuiper Mining"and"Inversion Circulation Device.“The first Special Operation takes place in White-Night Gulch, while the latter moves to the Old Mystery dungeon in Hagios on Hard difficulty.

Depending on your build, you likely won’t run into any issues on asolo run through the dungeon. Ensure you’re using thebest weapons inThe First Descendant, and revise your build to be safe. If you feel that your working build is lacking, you’re able to always opt for public matchmaking to take on a mission as a team.

Craft The Inversion Reinforcement Device

After completing both subquests, return to Albion to work with Anais on crafting the newInversion Reinforcement Device (IRD)from the existing inversion device. The seasonal artifact can be upgraded throughout the ongoing season as you earn Ironheart Particles and subsequent XP, and it resets on a three-month cycle. You can alsounlock new perks with the points you earn, which will come in handy as the first season ofThe First Descendantcontinues.

Rescue Hailey From An Invasion Dungeon

With the new-and-improved IRD at your disposal, you’ll need to put it to use to save Hailey, the newest Descendant on the roster. Doing so will require you to complete your first Invasion dungeon in the Fortress region. Dubbed theQuarantine Zone dungeon, new puzzle mechanics and a tough boss lie in wait.

When you first spawn inside a cave here, you’ll find various platforms scattered throughout the area. One platform in particular is floating and marked on your HUD. Use your grapple to land there, and the remaining platforms in the area will glow in different colors. This signals the start of the dungeon’s puzzle. To solve it and move forward, look to the wall to find three platforms: one pink, one white, and one red. From there, you’ll need toactivate the platforms that match those on the wall.

The task at hand is simple enough, but you’ll also need toavoid Vulgus' captureto successfully activate the matching platforms. If they manage to take control of a platform, it will deactivate, requiring you to restart the process. Move as quickly and carefully as possible, andwait a few seconds on each platform to fully activate them.

Theplatform puzzle is timed, which ups the ante quite a bit. If you’re unable to beat the clock, though, you can restart the mission to try again.

With the platform puzzle down, you’ll face off against the dungeon’s boss, the Inversion Infused Ledras. To damage the elite Vulgus, you’ll first need toposition yourself on a platform that matches the boss' current shield color. This will break the shield, allowing you to move from the platform and finish the fight.

The Inversion Infused Ledras is a formidable boss, and outlasting the battle will require ample defense.Ajax and Gleyare highly recommended Descendants for the job, as both bring the bulk you need to sustain damage.

Unlock Invasion Dungeons

With Hailey safe and sound in Albion, you’ll effectively unlock Invasion dungeons inThe First Descendant. Reminiscent of the battle you’ve just endured, these dungeons are Hard-difficulty variants, and each will task you with solving a puzzle before taking on a boss. You can find active invasions marked in red on your map moving forward, with the dungeons in marked regions serving as Invasion dungeons. You’ll need tobeat ten to progress through the season, though you’re limited to clearing justfour per day.

Most importantly, each Invasion dungeonmust be completed soloinThe First Descendant. With this in mind, you’ll want to go in with a solid loadout. Be sure to work out thebest build for Haileyand other Descendants to get through the season.
