Will Riker & Worf Became Starfleet Captains, While Geordi La Forge Ascended To The Rank Of Commodore
The careers of the rest of the Enterprise-D bridge crew are no less impressive.Commander Will Riker took over command of the USS TitaninStar Trek: Nemesis, finally accepting a promotion to Captain. When Riker and his wife, Counselor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis), lost their son Thad to illness, Riker left active service but remained in reserve. He later returned to Starfleet full-time, maintaining the rank of Captain. Worf, too, had become a Starfleet Captain by the time ofStar Trek: Picardseason 3, and was working with Starfleet Intelligence.
Worf briefly served as Captain of the USS Enterprise-E, but the fate of the ship remains unknown (although Worf insists that whatever happened was not his fault).
Last but not least,Geordi La Forge had achieved the rank of CommodorebyPicardseason 3 and taken on the role of Head Curator at the Fleet Museum. When Picard approached Geordi inPicardseason 3, the former Chief Engineer revealed thathe had spent the last twenty years rebuilding the Enterprise-D.This turned out to be incredible forethought on Geordi’s part, as the classic ship proved vital to saving the Federation on Frontier Day. With such an impressive roster, it’s no surprise thatStar Trek: The Next Generation’s Enterprise-D remains one of Starfleet’s most legendary ships.
