At one point recently,Marvel Rivalsbecame the most popular game on Steam, and this is well after a month beyond its release. After only a fortnight, 20 million players had tried the game, and that means that over 20 million players have been exposed to the game’s main mascot and announcer, Galacta. Galacta is a bit of an odd character, being the daughter of the more famous Galactus, a world-eating sort-of villain that is often used as the center of Earth-defending events in Marvel Comics.
Galacta is more of a hero, beginning as a tapeworm-like parasite inside Galactus that became her own cosmic being. Weirdly, she was raised on Earth as a human teenager, able to satiate her cosmic hunger without eating worlds like her father. She seems to be the one guiding heroes in theMarvel Rivalsversion of the comic book universe, taking interest in the multiversal colliding after two versions of Doctor Doom from different times decided to start a fight with each other. As the guide, she is also the game’s main announcer, although there is a problem with this.

Marvel Rivals Are Beginning To Find Galacta Annoying
Being Told To Stop That Vehicle Is Getting Grating
Galacta constantly talks throughoutmatches inMarvel Rivals, making comments about a team’s progress as they attempt to one up their opponents. When winning, these comments can be easily dismissed, but when hearing"you may’t expect to win them all"after losing a fourth game in a row, it can get grating quickly. In general, Galacta suffers from a lack of voice lines during games and the constantly repeated phrases can be just another thing that tilts players as their progress is stalled by continual losses.
Season 1 ofMarvel Rivalsadds new skinsthrough its battlepass and two members of The Fantastic 4, The Invisible Woman and Mister Fantastic.

That’s not to say the voice performance is bad by any means. In fact, Cassandra Lee Morris does a brilliant job with the character, especially when she talked about Jeff in the beta test back in August 2024, but her somewhat bratty personality can get annoying when things aren’t going well. Some variation would help in this regard to stop players from hearing the same things over and over, andMarvel Rivalsdoes have the perfect platform to add this variation with its seasonal villains.
Seasonal Villains Could Be The Announcer Instead
Both Doom And Dracula Already Have Voice Actors
Doom andDracula don’t have a massive presencein the game, despite the lore of two different seasons revolving around them, andthis could be alleviated by having them act as announcers in some way. Perhaps players can choose who they want as the announcer, or maybe the announcer changes based on the map or whose side the team is fighting for. Both the characters already have voice actors, and with the kind of voice cast thatMarvel Rivalshas, it isn’t as though NetEase is pulling any punches here.
Marvel Rivals: Every Season 1 Battle Pass Reward & How To Get Them
Season 1 of Marvel Rivals introduces a new Battle Pass you can buy to get multiple rewards, including new skins, MVP animations, emotes, and more.
Galacta is the face of the game and the in lore reason as to why the heroes are all getting together to stop the threats of Doom and Dracula, but that doesn’t mean she has to be overused.Marvel Rivalshas plenty of elements to add variations, and it feels like it’s time to allow the seasonal villains to have a bigger role. Dracula’s voice performance shone in the Season 1 trailer and hearing him in game would certainly help those getting annoyed with Galacta.
