Summary
TheStarfieldmodding scene can make Bethesda’s spacefaring RPG a lot more enjoyable, and it can feel like an especially cool addition on Xbox. Although PC players are used to having mods accessible for plenty of games, it’s a much rarer inclusion on console, and Bethesda’s dedication to offering console mods for its RPGs has expanded access to the joy of customization. Xbox mod availability is still much more limited than on PC, but it’s hard to criticize when it’s still head-and-shoulders above just about every other console game on the market.
There’s still a big problem withStarfieldXbox mods, however, and it has to do with a shortcoming of the Creations platform. Creations makes it possible to access a mix ofofficial BethesdaStarfieldadd-onsand approved community content on Xbox, including a number of paid mods vetted by Bethesda. Having to invest in a mod should provide an experience comparable to purchasing official DLC, butXbox still treats paid mods as unofficial content in one significant (and annoying) regard.

Two Starfield Creation Mods Could Provide Hints To The Shattered Space DLC
Shattered Space is due to be dealing with the religious House Va’Ruun, and two new Creation mods add more details that link to its themes.
Starfield Mods Disable Xbox Achievements
Even Verified Content Has Drawbacks
Installing any community-createdStarfieldmod on Xbox comes with one immediate caveat —achievements will be disabled while playing with mods, tossing out one aspect of progression that a lot of players enjoy. For some, this is completely negligible, and there’s no reason not to get creative with mods if achievements are of no interest. For anyone who would like to go for completion, however, even verified paid mods that don’t have any significant impact on the balance of the game can completely lock off achievements, requiring a trade-off that just doesn’t seem relevant.
Starfieldmods on PCdisable achievements by default as well, but it’s easy to get around on that platform, with the script extender or mods specifically designed to re-enable achievements patching up the problem.

Buying Starfield Mods Shouldn’t Come With Caveats
Bethesda Is Asking Players To Tolerate A Lot
Paid mods have always met with some contentionas a concept, and the fact that they still create the same frustrating roadblock to achievements as any mod enhances the fe of getting charged for content that should be free. On Xbox,Microsoft may be more to blame for the limitation than Bethesda, but considering that the studio is now a Microsoft subsidiary, it would be nice to see Bethesda push for a change. It’s understandable that Microsoft wouldn’t allow achievements in modded games back when they were tied to a tangible rewards system, but that’s been phased out.
Why Starfield Fans Should Pay Attention To August 20
Fans eagerly awaiting the release of the Starfield Shattered Space DLC expansion may not have to wait much longer to see new content.
It would be nice to split the difference with basic checks for what mods have no relevant impact on the game, allowing achievements to stay if only fully cosmetic add-ons are downloaded. There’s certainly an argument to be made that pushing a change to the system would be more trouble than it’s worth, as there are bigger problems withStarfieldthan an ultimately intangible question of achievements. If there’s not too much red tape to deal with, however, it’s a pretty straightforward issue, and getting to keep achievements with mods would be a nice change forStarfield.
