There are some finishedTV showsI still have questions about, and I can’t believe these upcoming reboots are about to provide answers I never expected to get. While there are severalhuge TV shows returning in 2025, none of them excite me as much as the revivals ofCommunity,Malcolm in the Middle,Ted Lasso,Buffy the Vampire Slayer, andScrubs, all of which aredue to return to screens over the next couple of years.
While the details of these projects are still relatively under wraps, I’m astonished that viewers are finally getting more explanation about these TV shows’ events and their characters. It’s worth noting that it isn’t guaranteed that these questions will be answered, but they’re such major points of their respective shows, it’ll be rather strange if they aren’t addressed.

Community is a comedic television series that chronicles the lives of diverse students at Greendale Community College, a fictional and notoriously underperforming educational institution in Colorado. Released in 2009, the show explores the quirky interactions and relationships among the eclectic group navigating their academic and personal challenges.
While it’s still a little unclear whentheCommunitymoviewill release, it is known that the long-awaited follow-up to the sitcom is coming, and there are loads of questions for it to answer. For example, where has Troy been since his departure in season 5? Did he get Pierce’s fortune, as promised? Are the gang in touch regularly, or is the movie going to be a big reunion party? Is Greendale even still open? Out of all these characters we know and love, who is the same and who isn’t?

The same can be asked about Keith David’s Elroy Patashnik, an older character who takes a job with LinkedIn in the finale.

However, it isn’t just the characters’ later fates that need answers.Will we finally get confirmation that Annie is the “Ass Crack Bandit”? Are viewers going to see any more ofCommunity’s Darkest Timeline? There are an incredible number of questions to ponder, and it’s unlikely all of them will be answered in theCommunitymovie, but I have faith that the major points will be acknowledged.
Malcolm in the Middle
Malcolm in the Middle tells the story of an average dysfunctional American family. When Malcolm, one of four children, learns that he possesses a genius-level intellect, his whole young world is turned upside down. Still desperately trying to fit in with his friends and family despite his extraordinary gifts, Malcolm finds that though his life might have changed, it’s still just as chaotic as ever.
I can’t wait fortheMalcolm in the Middlerevival, which is due to start shooting next month to accommodate Frankie Muniz’s NASCAR schedule.It has been a long time since the Wilkersons graced our TV screens, and there are a lot of things audiences need updates on. It’s known that Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek are reprising their roles as Hal and Lois, butThe Flashalum Kiana Madeira is also joining the cast as Malcolm’s new girlfriend. Considering a young Malcolm isn’t great in the romance department, I’m excited to see how he tackles relationships as an adult.
It’s still unclear whether Christopher Kennedy Masterson as Francis, Justin Berfield as Reese, orErik Per Sullivan as Deweywill be coming back.However, regardless of whether they return, it’s very likely theMalcolm in the Middlerevival will answer some questions about these characters’ fates. Does Reese still live with Craig? Are Francis and Piama still together? Is Dewey still a musical genius? Is genius Malcolm supporting his siblings, or does he succumb to the pressures of success and live a simpler life?
While a focus onMalcolm’s future inMalcolm in the Middle’srevivalis crucial, there are others who deserve attention.
The most important characters the revival needs to focus on are Jamie and Hal and Lois’ sixth child.Jamie is still very young at the end of season 7 and has no distinct personality, and Lois only discovers she is pregnant in the very last moments of the finale. I hope the show will also shed some light on those who disappeared during the original run, such asHayden Panettiere’sMalcolm in the Middlecharacter, Jessica, and Tania Raymonde’s Cynthia.
Scrubs
Scrubs is a Sitcom and Medical Comedy/Drama created by Bill Lawrence that follows a group of medical students throughout their daily lives at the Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital. The series stars Zach Braff, Sarah Chalke, and Donald Faison, as they work their way up from Medical Interns while juggling all sorts of hospital shenanigans.
Considering the tonal shift of season 9, and the general unpopularity of the installment, I’m so gladtheScrubsrevivalis happening.WhileScrubsseason 9, also known asMed School, delves into the later fates of the characters, there simply isn’t enough information to paint a full picture.I need to know more about J.D. and Elliot’s marriage and family, especially as season 9 suggests that the pair are finally stable after years of back and forth.
J.D.’s short-lived relationship with Kim results in the birth of their son, Sammy, who the two co-parent. Kim also ends up with Elliot’s ex, Sean, and although the situation starts a little awkwardly, everyone ends up on good terms. But is this still the case? A flashback in the episode “My Finale” suggests Sammy and Izzy, Turk and Carla’s daughter, get engaged as adults, and I need theScrubsrevival to clarify whether this is canon or just a daydream.
Scrubs' Revival Already Has Dr. Cox’s Perfect Replacement Ready For When JD Gets His Dream Ending
The Scrubs revival can only really end one way, and when it does, the sitcom already has a contingency in place for when JD settles into his new role.
There are multipleScrubscharacters who must return in the revival.Judy Reyes’ Carla is frustratingly absent in season 9, and I need to know more about her as a mother to two. I can’t see Carla giving up nursing, but an interview with Turk actor Donald Faison establishes that she becomes a stay-at-home mom after giving birth to their second child, although I like to think she returns to the profession (viaBuzzSugar).
Kelso becomes a widow in season 9 and is retired, but is he still kicking around?What about the Janitor, is he still causing chaos for J.D. from afar? Jordan and Cox’s relationship is by far one of the best parts ofScrubs, and I need to know whether the two are still bitter yet wholesome towards one another. I’m also intrigued about which of theMed Schoolera characters we’ll also see. I doubt we’ll see everyone, but out of all of them, I think there’s a good chance Eliza Coupe’s Denise will return.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a television series created by Joss Whedon, focusing on Buffy Summers, portrayed by Sarah Michelle Gellar, a young woman chosen to battle against vampires, demons, and other supernatural forces while navigating the complexities of teenage life.
TheBuffy the Vampire Slayerrevivalcould go in so many directions, especially as the canon is so much more than just the show nowadays.I need to know more about Buffy Summers’ adult life, especially as she will be roughly 13 years older in the revival than in the season 7 finale.Sarah Michelle Gellar is reprising her role as the titular character, but is she still a Slayer? Or is Buffy now retired, and will pass the baton to someone else?
The last mention ofSunnydale’s Watcher, Rupert Giles, is inAngel, and establishes that he’s in Europe with Buffy training Slayers.But are they still together, or are they set to reunite in the revival?Angel’s divisive endingshows Spike and Angel team up once again, and I’m excited to discover what the pair are up to nowadays. Buffy’s relationships with both vampires are huge arcs in the show, and I’ll be disappointed if the revival doesn’t address either of them at all.

I’m desperate to find out what happens to the likes of Xander and Oz, too, butthe most important Scooby Gang member I want theBuffyrevival to revisit is Willow.Her relationship with Tara is one of thedefining moments ofBuffy the Vampire Slayer, but does Tara’s death still haunt Willow? Is she still using her magic?
Of course, this is all based on the assumption that the revival doesn’t stay true toBuffy the Vampire Slayer’s comic canon.For example, one comic timeline sees Tara and Willow receive a much happier ending and becoming mothers to their daughter, Thessaly, who is also a Slayer.Either way, I’m still astounded viewers are going to finally find out the fates ofBuffy the Vampire Slayer’s characters.
Ted Lasso
Ted Lasso is an American football coach who moves to England, hired to manage a struggling soccer team, despite having no experience. With cynical players and a doubtful town, Ted will have to convince them that he’s fit for the job.
I never truly expected it to actually happen, but I am incredibly happy to learn that the rumors aboutTed Lassoseason 4are true and that the hit Apple TV+ show is making a comeback.Although the show has only been off the air for a short time, there are loads ofstorylinesTed Lassoneeds to resolve.For example, do Richmond ever win the Premier League? If so, how do they deal with this success without Ted?
It’s known Ted will be coaching a women’s team in season 4, but what events lead him back to the UK, other than a job offer?Ted leaves so he can be closer to Henry again, but something must draw him back again. Do Ted’s experiences of overseeing a British football team make him more of an outcast back in America, or do they make him even more popular? It seems likely that Keeley and Rebecca play a part in this, and I’m ready to discover more about their fates, too.
I’d love to know whether Keeley and Roy ever make their way back to one another, or Keeley and Jamie, instead.Their love triangle becomes rather dramatic at the end of the show, and considering Keeley’s last relationship with Jack as well, I’m glad she ends up without any of them. However, the fight between Roy and Jamie over Keeley has a rather vague resolution, and I can’t wait to find out whether she remains friends with them or pursues another romantic relationship.
I’m looking forward to finding out if Rebecca ever pursues becoming a mother as well. There are three predictions from Rebecca’s psychic that end up being correct, so it seems likely that season 4 will delve further into this part of her life.Ted Lasso’sseason 3 endingwraps up everyone’s stories relatively well, but audiences always want to know what happens to them next. With Roy, Beard, and Nate taking over, anything is possible.
