Getting help for today’sConnectionspuzzle makes a lot of sense, as some of the categories might be less recognizable. Today was a bit odd, as the later categories felt easier to me than some of the earlier ones, which is quite unusual. We are here with a few hints and trick to help you do just that as quickly as you possibly can.

NYT Mini Crossword: 8 Strategies To Solve It Fast

This tricky little five by five crossword isn’t always as easy as it looks; here are a couple easy tips and tricks to beat your friends' times!

If you are still not sure about this puzzle, you may use the category names to give you another nudge. Otherwise, the full spoilers are further below.

NYT game The Mini

___WORM

SCHOOL

TRAIN

This category is the one I actually got last, although I noticed the general subject of the category ahead of that. I saw COACH and GUIDE and figured that’s where the category was heading, but I wasn’t sure about the other two words at that moment in time. By the time I came back around to it, I had finished the other categories off, and it was all that remained. That said, I think by that time I would have come around to SCHOOL and TRAIN, but with BANK and STORE I wanted to be sure before I selected them.

RESERVE

STORE

This was the second-to-last category I solved much for the same reason. I saw RESERVE and STORE and considered them before moving onto a category I felt more certain about. When I came back to it,it seemed more obvious and POOL and BANK were the only words close enoughto select. I like the idea of POOL being used as opposed to horde for a dragon because it makes me think the dragon is swimming in the riches in a more real way.

8 NYT Tiles Strategies To Score Huge Combos

The Tiles game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to use various strategies to pair matching visual patterns together to build huge combos.

SIGNAL

TURN

This one was the first one I got, but I didn’t interpret the category quite right.I thought it was things you could do while driving, which is very similar, but I missed the “command” part of it where someone else would be telling you to do these things. That’s understandable, given that none of these are words that sound like a command on their own. Luckily, they were recognizable enough that it made sense to guess them without needing that extra context.

GLOW

INCH

I got this category second, which was a bit of a surprise, but I believe INCH and GLOW were next to each other when I was solving it.I liked to find INCH worms as a kid, so when I looked at that word I saw a small green creature in my mind’s eye. Seeing GLOW right next to it triggered the idea and led me to look for other worms. EARTH was fairly straightforward, but it did take me a minute to remember that BOOK worms were actually a thing as well.
