In today’sConnections, players will want to turn over a new leaf by winning the puzzle. Interestingly, some of the easier categories seem harder than the traditionally hard categories today, but that is always down to the player’s personal experience. If you want to win, you will need topay close attention to some of the simpler words, as they are the ones that can be deceptive today.

The Tiles game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to use various strategies to pair matching visual patterns together to build huge combos.
If you need an extra nudge to get across the finish line, knowing what theactual category names are can be a big benefit. Here are each of today’s categories, along with what color scheme they belong to.

In a random twist of fate, the yellow category today was the last one I was able to solve. Partly because NOVEL and BOOK could be a little tricky if you got stuck on them and partly because some of the other categories felt more straightforward.Describing a feeling can always be a bit hard, even with the right words, and in this case, connecting these four words does not seem intuitive at first glance. Seeing them together now is a little odd but not impossible.
RESERVE
SECURE
For much the same reason as the above, this category was the second-to-last category I solved today. CHARTER and BOOK I added last to this group, mainly after the other words in the puzzle had been taken, and I realizedthere was not a “words for book” category. RESERVE and SECURE clued me into what this category meant, and it was more accessible. Luckily, I did not use up a guess on the book and novel conundrum, as I was able to see that there were no other words that could go with them.

Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.

I was able to solve this category first today, as seeing BANNER and STREAMER caught my attention first. After looking at the other possible words, I ended up cutting STREAMER and adding in BALLOON, as it seemedmore like general party decorations than words for a specific type of string decoration. It was still quite lucky, as streamers can be party decorations, but I was guessing that of all the words in this group, that one seemed to fit in the least and could go into other categories more easily.
MODEL
STREAMER
After not putting STREAMER in the past category, I saw it and INFLUENCER and thought they likely went together. AMBASSADOR was fairly easy to add in, but I did have a choice to make for the last word. I thought there was afairly equal chance that CREATIVE and MODEL could be an online job, but was not sure which one would be more acceptable. Luckily, I guessed right that MODEL seemed more likely and that the other choice could belong elsewhere. In this case, creative seemed a little too general for what the category was going for.
