The entire collection will net you a total of 10 slots per character, allowing you to equip a variety of abilities and passive skills to your go-to heroes. With a host of Ability Seeds to be found, each slot gained counts toward a better party build.

Val Ability Seed Slot Expansion Items & Locations
Val’s Ability Seed slot expansion items are calledChalices of Hope. The first in his collection is also the very first Chalice you’ll have access to on your playthrough. Here’s a look at their locations.

Dura Gorge
Just after you’ve entered Dura Gorge, follow the wind current there to access its upper area. Head to the opposite end to find a chest containing Val’s first Chalice of Hope.
Chalice of Hope #2
Floating Isle of Ulul
Val’s second Chalice of Hope can be found along the Floating Isle of Ulul’s southern border, toward the eastern tip. Trek to the top of a hill here to find a chest near a tree. The slot expansion item is inside.
Chalice of Hope #3
Dorpher Volcano
After you’ve quenched the blue lava on Dorpher Volcano, keep left to find a chest against a small crag near the path’s end. Val’s third Chalice of Hope is inside.

Niccolo’s Emporium
Following the completion of Chapter 10, purchase the final Chalice of Hope for 200 Niccolo Coins.

From the Temple’s entrance, head left and down the stairs. Just before an engraved stone with torches on either end, you’ll find a chest with Careena’s first Chalice of Loyalty inside.

Inside Wendel Temple, you’ll see a chest sitting atop a high ledge. With some careful maneuvering, you can jump up to this location. The second Chalice of Loyalty is found inside.

Wind Sanctum
To get Careena’s final Chalice of Loyalty in the Wind Sanctum, you’ll first need to beat the enemies in the area. As you follow the cliff’s edge, you’ll find a chest containing the Chalice item.

In the Sanctuary of Mana, you’ll fight a group of Chess Knights by a broken staircase. The chest containing the second Chalice of Change is found in this same area.
