Warning! This article contains spoilers for Joker: Folie à Deux
The end ofJoker: Folie à Deuxfeatures a young inmate who plays a pivotal if somewhat controversial role in theDCElseworlds movie.Joker: Folie à Deuxhas earned decidedly mixed reviewsafter hitting theaters and is so far struggling to match up to the unprecedented financial success of its predecessor. While it has provoked criticism for its slow pacing, it still delivers an undeniably fresh take on the comic book movie genre andBatman movies in general, with Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga providing incredible performances as Arthur Fleck and Lee.

The movie sees Arthur detained at Arkham before and during the trial for his very public crimes. While Joker and Harley Quinn take center stage, the only other confirmed character from DC Comics lore to make an appearance isHarry Lawtey’s Harvey Dent, who is the lead prosecutor as the assistant D.A. in Fleck’s trial. At the end of the movie, meanwhile, is another character who not only plays a pivotal role as Fleck’s killer but has given rise to multiple theories that he is the “Real” Joker after cutting the sides of his mouth with a knife.

Storrie’s involvement inJoker: Folie à Deuxcould be considered the actor’s big break considering the lesser-known productions in his filmography. Despite the movie receiving a mixed bag of reviews, it’s hard to deny that Storrie made an impression as the psychopathic inmate responsible for drawing a line beneath the cinematic career of Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck. Still, his actions as Fleck lay bleeding out beg the question of whether he’ll reappear down the line.
Will Joker 2’s Young Inmate Return?
He May Be The “Real” Joker But A Sequel Is Unlikely
Given Storrie’s Young Inmate could be seen giving himself a Joker-style smile by cutting the corners of his mouth, this has left many wondering whether he will make a return down the lineas the true Joker.Another theory suggests that he is portraying a younger version of Heath Ledger’s Joker, given the distinctive scarring, with the Young Inmate poised to star in a fleshed-out origin story for that version of the character. With that in mind, the Young Inmate could technically return down the line - butit remains incredibly unlikely.
Barry Keoghan’s Joker inThe Batmanalso has heavy scarring on his face in the deleted scene in which he is featured.
Arthur Fleck’s death at the end ofJoker: Folie à Deuxcertainly felt like a line being drawn beneath the two-movie franchise. Furthermore, withJoker: Folie à Deuxcurrently struggling at the box office, it remains unlikely that Phillips will want to follow up on this movie with another. Besides, between MattThe Batmantrilogy and the DCU’s upcoming live-action Batman franchise, another Joker origin story may only serve to over-stuff the coming years of DC movie offerings. What is more likely is that the violent Young Inmate possibly won’t even survive prison.
