Maria LaGuerta does not appear in the premiere episode ofDexter: Original Sin. She is notably the only returning original cast member who is set to appear in theDexterprequel series and does not show up in the first episode. BothVince Masuka and Angel Batista make their first appearances early onin the pilot episode. Series leads Debra Morgan, Harry Morgan, and of course, Dexter Morgan, played by Patrick Gibson, are also introduced in the opening scenes.

The Dexter: Original Sin premiere may be overstuffed & uninsightful but it aptly sets up a killer leading duo in Gibson & Hall’s shared protagonist.
The most plausible explanation is that Maria LaGuerta just isn’t working at Miami Metro yet at this point in the series. Considering how much she came to learn about Dexter and how Deb ended up taking her life in the original series to protect her brother, she is probably going to get her own spotlighted introduction in a future episode. There is speculation about how she will approach Dexter in the prequel series sinceshe was notably flirtatious with him inDexterseason 1.
When Will LaGuerta Be Hired At Miami Metro In Dexter: Original Sin Season 1?
She may come on to help find a serial killer
Dexter: Original Sinmay not really start feeling like the classic Miami Metro homicide office from the original series until LaGuerta shows up in a future episode. Once the season-length villain is potentially introduced inOriginal Sin,LaGuerta may come on to oversee the particular hunt for a serial killerthat Dexter will almost certainly go after himself. Since LaGuerta is a confirmed character inDexter: Original Sin, while other fan favorites such as Sergeant Doakes are not, it’s only a matter of time before she makes her introduction.
