Shoresy Realizes He’s Actually A Great Coach & Understands He’s Needed In That Position
Shoresy Proved Just How Effective He Would Be As A Coach
Shoresyseason 4 had much less of a dominant overarching story than previous seasons, instead focusing on several different subplots with loose connections. In each of those subplots,Shoresy was able to demonstrate the values that make him a good hockey coach, and are the foundational elements of what make him a good person. It culminated with his final motivational speech to the Lakers as they split up at the end of the summer, which fired the boys up to the point that they specifically told Shoresy he should be a coach.

After resisting the idea mostly due to the fact that it would kill him to be so close to the game but not able to impact it, Shoresy finally caved after recognizing that coaching the Bulldogs is where he was needed most. Despite constantly rattling offquotable insults,Shoresyis a good man and a true motivator, and he inspires loyalty wherever he goes, which is the foundation of an ideal coach. Nat told him he needed to put the love he had for hockey somewhere else, and the Bulldogs themselves are where he opted to put that passion.
What Shoresy Becoming The Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs’ Coach Means For Season 5
How Shoresy Handles The New Role Should Be The Crux Of The Next Season
One of the biggest questions heading into season 5 ofShoresyis what Shoresy’s relationship with Sanguinet will be moving forward. Sanguinet wasn’t present for season 4 with the Bulldogs in the offseason, but in theory he will return in the fall once hockey gets back underway. The fortunes of the Bulldogs will be directly tied to howShoresy and Sanguinet are able to navigate the distribution of duties and the hierarchy of decision-making.
Season 5 could drive a wedge between Shoresy and the players as he demands more from them than they’re willing to give.
Shoresy coaching will also unavoidably alter his relationship with the rest of the players. While he commanded plenty of respect and loyalty as the team captain, there is a big difference between being a leader who’s equal in status vs. a genuine authority figure. Season 5 could drive a wedge between Shoresy and the players as he demands more from them than they’re willing to give, which would be perfectly in character for Dolo, Goody, and Hitch. No matter what direction it goes in, Shoresy taking on the role of coach inShoresyseason 5 will fundamentally change the show.
