Spoiler alert: The following article contains spoilers from Will Trent season 3, episode 8, “Abigail B.”

TheWill Trentseason 3 premiere features a surprising new dynamic that has only grown stronger with every episode and is a stark contrast to Will and Angie’s relationship. ABC’s crime drama series has built and destroyed Will and Angie’s connection numerous times throughout its three seasons. It’s gotten to a point where it’s more repetitive and exhausting than entertaining. However, followingthe ending ofWill Trentseason 2,the couple’s bond is seemingly broken for good, paving the way for a new duo.

As many will recall,Will arrested Angie in the season 2 finale. He discovered that she helped cover up Lenny Broussard’s death, which resulted in his real murderer, Crystal, continuing her killing spree. Although Will contemplated not turning Angie in and choosing to grow old together, his sense of duty to the truth won out. Plus, Crystal’s mother likely would have exposed Angie anyway, and Will knew that. Will andAngie are back to working together inWill Trentseason 3, but the previous betrayal has ended their personal relationship.

Faith & Ormewood Is More Stable & Healthy Than Will & Angie’s Dynamic

The 2 Characters Have Built An Unsuspecting Friendship

While Will was away in Tennessee and Angie was dealing with her legal situation, Faith and Ormewood grew closer inWill Trent. Their dynamic formed sometime in the six-month time jump between the season 2 finale and season 3 premiere, shocking everyone, including Will and the audience. Faith and Ormewood’s partners were gone, though. So, in that respect, their relationship makes sense. However, in every other respect,Faith and Ormewood bonding seems like an unfathomable development after the show’s first two seasons.Still, they work well together, much better thanWill and Angie ever did inWill Trent.

Of course,Faith and Ormewood’s dynamic is purely platonic. But, given each role in theWill Trentseason 3 cast, it completely juxtaposesWill and Angie’s relationship. Faith and Ormewood trust and rely on one another without a second thought. Meanwhile, Will and Angie can’t trust each other and have built a toxic dynamic. Now, Faith is moving in with Ormewood, starting inWill Trentseason 3, episode 8, further strengthening their friendship.

The Show Must Explore Other Dynamics

Even though it’s surprising,Faith and Ormewood’s unique dynamic has been a highlight ofWill Trentseason 3(and proves the show has more interesting relationships outside of Will and Angie). They compliment one another quite well as Faith isn’t afraid to put Ormewood in his place, while he helps her open up. Their friendship is evidence that when the story shifts away from Will and Angie, the series can soar. Will Trent’s main charactersare complex. As a result, exploring new dynamics and moving away from Will and Angie is what’s best forWill Trent.
