The early days of Rip and Beth’s marriage are being put to the test inYellowstoneseason 5 part B. After the first few seasons saw their relationship proceed at a casual pace, the season 4 ending saw the two finally tie the knot, with the latter kidnapping a Catholic priest and bringing him tothe Dutton family ranchto marry them. While season 5 part A has generally seen the two living happily while also raising Carter, now far more mature, it’s also followed Beth as her feud with her adoptive brother Jamie has escalated.
TheYellowstoneseason 5 part A ending presented the couple with two major hurdles, the first of which being thatKevin Costner’s John Dutton IIIhad sent Rip and a select number of cowboys down to Texas to protect his livestock after part of his land has become contaminated. More than a simple transport, this requires Rip and Beth to be separated for a full year, all the more problematic as the other hurdle presented is that the latter and Jamie have declared war on each other. With Jamie also looking into potentially hiring hitmen to kill both Beth and John, the separation between Beth and Rip could prove a permanent one.

8 Things To Remember Before The Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 Premiere
Yellowstone season 5, part 2 is approaching, and since there was a long break between the two parts, there are a few things viewers should remember.
TheYellowstoneseason 5 part B castincludes the returns of Wes Bentley as Jamie and Kelly Reilly as Beth alongside Luke Grimes, Kelsey Asbille, Cole Hauser, Brecken Merrill, Jefferson White, Gil Birmingham, Ryan Bingham, Wendy Moniz, Forrie J. Smith and Dawn Oliveri. Delivering some of the most shocking twists yet while also offering some emotional character development, Taylor Sheridan looks to be sending off his show in grand fashion.

In anticipation of the show’s return,Screen Rantinterviewed Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser to discussYellowstoneseason 5 part B, just how intense the war will get between Jamie and Beth, particularly with Costner’s John absent from the ranch and final episodes of the show, as well as how Rip will have to step up and run the ranch and lead his cowboys.
John’s Absence Will Affect Beth “Wildly” Going IntoYellowstone’s Final Episodes
“John Dutton is still a very central character…”
Screen Rant: It’s great to get to meet you both and tochat aboutYellowstone. I admittedly hopped on the bandwagon a little late for Part A, and I’ve loved it, though, ever since. Kelly, I’d like to start with you first. As we’ve seen throughout the show, Beth is always a bit of a fighter ready to brawl with anybody, but John has always been there to kind of corral her. With his absence in these final episodes, how is that going to sort of emotionally affect her and her role on the ranch?
Kelly Reilly: It affects her wildly. Her father is everything to her, as is Rip. These two men in her life are her linchpins, and yeah, you may imagine what that might do to someone who has been so utterly devoted. John Dutton is still a very central character in our show in this last season. His absence is only physical, he is there in all of us as we round this thing up.

It’s Time For Rip “To Grow Up” In The Wake Of John’s Absence
“…he’s laid the foundation…”
Cole, I’ll turn to you next on a similar note of John’s absence. Rip and John’s bond has been one of the most emotional things to watch in the show. I, especially, think back to the letter he received as he got the cabin in season 3. I’d love to hear what Rip is feeling with John’s absence, especially with Kayce coming in almost as his unofficial replacement, and that has always been a weird mental tug-of-war for Rip throughout the show.
Cole Hauser: Yeah, ultimately, it’s time to grow up. I think he’s laid the foundation for not only how to run the ranch, but as far as the intricacies of the bunkhouse and dealing with certain things that I’ve done for the last 20 years there. So I feel like, for him, it’s more about not only supporting Beth and being there for her, but also helping, in any way he can, to continue to run the ranch at the highest level.

Beth May Take A Trip To Visit Rip In Texas
“Beth misses Rip tremendously.”
So, I’d love to hear, then, from both of you what we can expect from Rip and Beth going into this final season. Rip, like you mentioned, supporting Beth helped her find the best way to apologize to John and fix that relationship. What can we expect from you two going into your relationship in these final episodes?
Kelly Reilly: What can we say? It’s hard. I would love to share with you what happened, so then I could tell you what you can expect, but we’re not allowed, and don’t want to spoil anything for the audience. But they are very much together. At the end of the last season, we see Rip and the cowboys take the cattle to Texas, so he’s left, and Beth is stuck at the ranch trying to figure out a way to save it, and it’s sort of falling through her hands, and she’s doesn’t know how to monetize it, or her father won’t even consider it. It’s becoming more and more challenging, and Beth misses Rip tremendously. She may or may not take a trip to Texas to see him, so that’s a bit of fun.

Viewers Will Get “A Final Battle” Between Beth & Jamie
“…they’ve been at war for a long time.”
I’d also love to hear really quickly, because I see I have enough time for one more, aboutBeth and Jamie’s warthis season. As we saw at the end of the last season, it ended on a pretty heavy note. What can you tell me about what we can expect from that?
Kelly Reilly: So, in the last season, him, with his new girlfriend, Sarah Atwood, hire a hitman. It doesn’t get more violent than that. And Beth says, “We’re at war,” and I think they’ve been at war for a long time. But I think we’re getting to a final battle. I think we’re heading there.
